   Taliesin, Gypsy Vanner Stallion

This brightly-colored, heavily-feathered horse has long been bred and owned by the gypsies. Theirs is a small, hardy draft horse with flamboyant color and feather, and a calm and intelligent personality.

Taliesin has been richly layered with several coats of acrylic, pastels, Prismacolor pencil and pearlex powders, with a coating of clear sealer between each layer to create depth and richness in his coat. His mane, tail and feathers are blended colors of silky cream, white and black Tibetan Lambswool.

$295 (sold)

The horse pictured here is based on Big Sky Gypsy's herd stallion, Taliesin. He's shown prancing over a full-size draft horse shoe formerly worn by my Beligian mare, Lucy! All horses are 1:12 scale Breyer models unless otherwise noted. Most are well-loved former toys rescued from various states of disrepair and neglect. They undergo a painstaking process of repair, customization, paint and detailng, and then are fitted with silky, flowing manes and tails. A special final touch adds that spark of "life" to their eyes, completing their transformation from battered toy to collector's dream.
